The Diary of a Nobody

Who Am I

Who am I, I think to myself all the time

Am I the name that was given to me at birth

Or the expectations that I inherited?

Am I the version that you see

Or the version I hear about through the mind's dialogue?

Am I the cumulative of every experience

Or the cumulative of opinions of you and every other person I come across?

Am I the sorrow of the night

Or the joy of the day?

Am I the result of an action

Or the motivation behind it?

Am I the thought of the mind

Or the one listening to it?

Am I the image that I see in the mirror

Or the one seeing it?

Am I the body that senses

Or the mind that processes?

Am I a part of the world

Or I by myself am a whole world?

Am I the reflection of my past

Or the experience of the present?

Am I a fleeting moment in time

Or am I the eternity in the mind?

Am I the manifestation of an idea

Or am I the idea itself?

Am I the one ruled by time

Or am I the physical manifestation of time itself?

Am I the storm of the mind

Or the one witnessing it?

Am I the thought

Or am I the silence between those thoughts?

Who am I? Nobody knows. And maybe — nobody is me.
